You may already know that Tradlands was one of the first “ethical brands” that I ever purchased. It was back in 2015 when they hit my radar. A few months later, I bought a deeply discounted pink chambray shirt. At the time, their pieces were made in the USA, and what really intrigued me was the claims of an amazing fit, with an 8-button closure and no gaping! Who woulda thunk it?? But it was still the most money I’d ever spent on a button down shirt. So I took time to message them and inquire about sizing. They were so helpful that they hooked me as a customer for life.
My relationship with Tradlands grew from there, and I even had the chance to meet Rachelle and Sadie — the women behind the brand — when they were in L.A. a couple years ago. It was so fun to hear their goals and hopes for growing the business. They are the real deal and love their customers. We chat occasionally and I am honored to support them whenever I can. I typically buy a piece from them once a year and they will offer gifted items now and then as well. This particular shirt was gifted to me as part of a Mother’s Day collaboration. After a sizing mishap on my part, I’m finally able to wear it.
shirt details
The shirt is available in XXS-3XL. I fall right in between a size M/L on their size chart. While the M fits, I much prefer the loose, drapey feel of the L. I’m also wild about the color. I don’t usually like clothes that are too close to my skin tone, but this has those beautiful peachy undertones that I feel really good in, and allows me to skip any extra makeup.
The other feature that I appreciate are the oversized square chest pockets. They add visual interest and enhance the relaxed feel of the top. It’s made of tencel and linen so I do have to be careful of stains/sweat, just because it shows up easily in this lighter color. But it’s breathable and has been good to me so far on this 85 degree day. The drop shoulder is a favorite style. It’s one I can wear for so many years, even if my body continues to change.
I wanted to show the Tradlands shirt untucked, so you can appreciate the drape. But I have to apologize for all the wrinkles! It was tucked in this morning before I took pictures, so let’s just pretend it’s freshly washed and ironed. #badblogger. I will most likely wear it front-tucked the majority of the time, but I like that it’s long enough to sneak leggings in there once in awhile too.
outfit notes
Even though I love these pieces individually, the outfit feels like its missing something. Cue me searching Poshmark this morning for a belt! I haven’t owned a belt in many, many, MANY years. But as I’ve mentioned, I’m trying to go for a slightly more polished vibe this summer. Maybe a belt will just finish the look? Worth a shot.
The shorts fit TTS for a slightly baggy fit, but size down if you want them more snug. They will probably be getting their own feature one of these days because I love the length of them and wear them often. And the sandals: they run slightly big, so size down if in between sizes. They’re very squishy and comfy, and I *almost* kept them on all day. But after coming in and out of the house with Stevie, I eventually switched to slides for easy on/off.
