Taking Stevie to my favorite Ventura County Fair is a tradition I hope to keep alive for many years. It’s always about 20 degrees cooler up there by the ocean, so it came at the right time and was a perfect escape from overheated LA. This was our 4th year in a row and we had a great day, aside from the part where I yelled and threatened not to take him if he didn’t stop talking about hot dogs. OKAY! You want a hot dog when we get there. I get it, yo.
Somehow I ended up with a $10 IKEA hot dog and he ended up with a delicious looking corn dog, but we all make choices in life. Mine just happened to be wrong that day. We looked at the animals, and he referred to each one of them as a horsey. Cows, pigs, sheep – all horsies. Luckily the horses were horsies too, so I could pat him on the back for that one. We went on rides for the first time and that was awesome. Yes, he cried on all of them, but loved them on the inside. He walked all around that place like a champ. Once he was starting to wear down, he got his hands on a sample of candied almonds and the last 40 minutes of the fair was him crying for more. I figured candied almonds were slightly better than cotton candy (maybe?) and we got those for the long drive home.
Hello! I’m a photo editor at MommyPoppins.com – an events listing site for LA kids/family. May we use one of your wonderful images in an events listing where we mention the fair? We would credit and link back to your page if you wish. Let me know? Thanks.
Sure! Thank you for asking. I use your site pretty often! 🙂
That picture of his arm behind him and around your knees is so precious. Very touching. As always, your pictures are fantastic.
