We finally did it.  A month after Stevie’s actual heart-iversary, we went to Disneyland to celebrate this little heart warrior.  It was kind of fitting, actually, since we went during CHD Awareness Week.  This was something Paul and I talked about doing while we were still in the hospital.  Stevie was recovering, lying in the bed with his chest open, after heart surgery and 6 unexpected cardiac arrests.

I had to pull myself out of the depths, man.

So at that moment, we made a promise that every year, instead of dwelling on the doom and gloom of that day, we would make something very special out of it. It was a new birthday of sorts for Stevie.  And it would be bigger and better than his real birthday.  The last couple years I chose Disneyland – obviously! – but as Stevie gets bigger, it will be his choice what we do together. (Fingers crossed it’s still Disneyland.)

We had a great 1/2 day there.  Stevie loves a handful of the rides, but especially seemed to enjoy watching the Cars from Radiator Springs Racers zoom by.  Can’t wait til he’s big enough to ride that one.  It’s the best!

They had extended hours for Passholders, so we got our wristbands.  Then went home early. If the sky had been blue, this might have worked. Sneaking into Star Tours.  Then he tripped and scraped his lips. In case you were wondering – yes.  I do wear a fanny pack to Disneyland.  Every time. Me and Sona!
