As I sit here thinking about what profound thing I can tell you all about giving up shopping for year, I realize… well, there really isn’t anything. Because giving up shopping for a year is not profound. It’s not as important as it seemed when I first started. In the scheme of life and all the things, it’s really not a big deal.
Did I miss shopping? Hell yes.
Do I plan to go on a shopping spree now that it’s over. No, no, no.
Did it change the way I look at clothes? Absolutely.
I did not execute my plan 100% perfectly, but I still made a HUGE effort and saved us a good chunk o’ dough compared to years’ past. Going forward in 2014, I’ll be shopping a little bit. But I already know I have to set new goals and rules for myself so I don’t wind up where I was back in 2012. I am ashamed that I get so caught up in it! That’s not who I want to be. I still love shopping and I will always be excited about fashion and trends and clothes, and that’s OK. But letting it take over my life and my bank account? No. I want a more simple existence. A clean, functional, organized closet. Quality staple pieces. Things that I enjoy wearing.
Wish me luck.
P.S. Best ways to sell/trade/get rid of old clothes? GO!
I only wish I had enough clothes to sustain me for a year! As always, you look beautiful and stylish.
