I’ve never done a breakdown of all my clothes on the blog before. I’m kind of excited to share!
Just a couple years ago, it would’ve taken a decade to go over everything in my over-packed, overwhelming closet. But for the past few seasons, I’ve been working on defining my style and whittling down the junk. And most importantly I want clothes that work for my life as it is right now.
Sometimes it’s hard to stay realistic about where you are and not buy clothes for where you’re wishing you were, or think you should be. I’m totally the person who can buy a whole new wardrobe for a vacation she’s only dreamed of. So, with some inspiration and soul searching, I’m getting there.
This wardrobe is fitting for my life as a mom. You won’t see any high heels here, although I do have a couple stashed away for that rare night out. These are just my day-to-day-sitting-on-the-floor-then-running-to-a-doctors-appointment-and-stopping-at-the-playground outfits. Because that’s me right now. Not the most exciting thing in the world, but I do take my job as a mom seriously.
This season, as I started to organize, I didn’t count my clothes. And go figure – I ended up with smaller numbers than ever. Around 40 pieces! I never thought this would be possible.
And besides all that, can I just tell you how happy I am that spring is here? Not that we had a cold winter or anything, I was just so ready to switch things up! It feels… nooice.
So let’s do this. Now presenting my spring capsule wardrobe for 2015:
TOPS (16)
structured tunic / long sleeve stripe tee / peasant top / peplum top / white tee / striped tee / raglan sweater / cream cardigan / (2) sleeveless crew* / white button down* / blue boyfriend shirt* / pink eyelet top / coca-cola tee / be kind tee / denim vest
JACKETS (4)
stripe cardigan / denim jacket / army jacket / marled cardigan*
DRESSES (3)
denim dress / sleeveless shirt dress / stripe dress
BOTTOMS (7)
roll up denim shorts / cut-off denim shorts / blue jeans / white jeans / destroyed tomboy jeans / black jeans / unstructured khaki shorts
JUMPSUITS (2)
mechanic jumper / overalls
SHOES (9)
white vans* / tan birkenstocks / tan slides / suede buckle boots / fringe booties / red nikes* / yellow sandals / black birkenstocks / black nikes
If any of these items are old or no longer available, I have linked to something similar at a similar price point.
Starred (*) items are things I bought recently. I spent under $200 this go around (although I do have a few extra bucks set aside for a couple more wants that I just haven’t found yet.) But $200 broken down over 3 months is pretty practical, especially if you look at my spending habits in years past.
So there you have it. I’ll be sharing my outfits in my Friday Confessions so come back and visit for sure, okay?
Oh! And one more time, I have to thank Caroline over at Un-fancy for the inspiration as well as the opportunity to write for her blog last season. It. Was. Awesome. On so many levels. You can read my guest posts here and all about my trip to Austin here.
I absolutely love your style, and you inspired me to chop my hair off!
i want to see!!
Love when bloggers break down their capsules! I always find it so helpful and inspiring!
I found you on un-fancy guest posts and I had to come back and check out what you have been up too. I’m looking forward to seeing your outfits because I am in the same season of life as you! Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you for posting your spring capsule wardrobe. Love your style.
Love it! But for the shorts and sleeveless dress, most of it could work for our Autumn too. Obsessed with the mechanic jumpsuit/overall. Something I would dream about but never buy.
I love the mechanic jumper and can’t wait to see how you rock it! It’s the perfect mix of cool/edgy and practical! I want that eyelet top, too!
I found you through unfancy! I am so excited to see your spring capsule. I am working on my own right now and have spent quite a bit more than I normally do. I love that you didn’t spend much and soon I do think that is possible for me as well.
Thrilled that your posted your spring wardrobe. You have some really great pieces and it looks so cohesive!! $200 is awesome and I’m glad to see you went for the fringe booties. Looking forward to Friday outfits!
