Last year I wrote a post called 25 Ways To Know You’re Such a Mom. It’s a list that can constantly evolve, but still holds true. Sometimes it’s unbelievable how much life has changed or what you’ve had to give up after becoming a mom. But it certainly has it’s perks too.
- Hearing “Mama” for the first time.
- Snuggles.
- Date night takes on a whole new meaning.
- You refer to your offspring as a little shit, and other parents totally understand. No judgement.
- You always have someone to tickle. Death by baby giggles would be my favorite way to go.
- Watching them learn and figure things out is really incredible.
- Seeing your parents become proud grandparents is really cute.
- You appreciate the little moments – shopping alone, having time to do your nails, or just watching a show (or a movie!) uninterrupted.
- Lots of laughs. And even if it’s not funny in the moment, you will probably laugh about it later. Or better yet, when the kid is actually trying to make you laugh. Future class clown?
- Looking at your husband with the baby, and realizing you made a great choice with that one.
- You have the ultimate excuse for why the house is a mess, why there’s no dinner, or why you haven’t exercised. Seriously. We get it.
- Tax break. Haha, had to say it.
- Hours and hours of precious photos and video to look at. Perhaps only you can truly appreciate it, but it’s awesome to go back and relive the moments.
- Your memory isn’t as bad as you might have thought. After all, you’ve memorized every children’s book in his room and every Sesame Street YouTube clip ever created.
- When you come home and the munchkin is excited to see you.
- It’s fun when they take an interest in things that you are interested in.
- Overcoming obstacles and discipline problems is very gratifying.
- The days where you feel like Supermom. As few and far between as they may seem.
- Seeing them get really excited about something. Never gets old.
- Teaching them to be your helper.
- Sharing old traditions, and making new ones.
- Understanding all the things you’d heard about motherhood. You’re in it now; ain’t no going back.
- Naptime.
- Bedtime.
- When they fall asleep in your arms. Anytime.
I think this list will be added to as time goes on. But these are the things I love right now. Mom (and Dads), feel free to add to the list in the comments! I’d love to know your favorite parts of parenthood. Happy Friday!
