I get so many questions about these tan slides! They are such a great minimal sandal, but they come with a heck of a price tag. So naturally, people want to know more. I will tell you right off the bat — these are a luxury item, and not a practical one. I’ve had mine for a year, and I’ve actually been meaning to write a review about them for quite some time, so I’ll sum up my thoughts here.
The question I get asked most is if the sandals are worth it. And my first instinct is to say no way! Are there tan slides that exist that are worth $250?? But worth is all in the eye of the beholder. They are a sturdy shoe in construction, but they are also wrapped in lambskin, so they’re delicate with wear. The top strap has held up, but the foot bed is scraped and scratched to hell. I actually scratched them after only the second time wearing them, and was basically devastated. That being said, they are a gorgeous tan sandal. A slimmer silhouette than my Birkenstocks, so they are a good option to have. And as with most expensive items, the only way it’s worth the price tag for this cheap skate, is if I wear the hell out of them. And that’s exactly what I have done.
So… are they worth it? Maybe a better question is: would I buy them again? I wear them so much, I have definitely contemplated what I would do. And I think I would purchase them again (after selling some other things)! I have even thought that it would be nice to keep this beat-up pair for hanging around and running errands, and get a nice, new pair for when life starts again and I can go to brunch or something. But since I’m not going anywhere anytime soon, I don’t have to worry about that right now.

Size up in the slides. For sure. I’m a solid 9.5 and sized up to the 10, but if I was to buy them again, I’d probably even go up to the 11. They break in easily, I don’t remember any pain. But after walking a lot, especially in the summer heat, they can start to feel snug. So I think the extra room would be welcome.
allyship notes
We’ve all learned about Jim Crow laws at some point. I’m sure you hear the term thrown around here and there. But I don’t remember much of what I was taught about that era, honestly. What I did learn may have only been a small part of the truth anyway, since my education was so white-washed. So I’ve been finding myself extremely interested in soaking up more Black history. I looked for a little refresher and I thought this article was a good basic overview. It also led me to want to learn more about Mound Bayou. If you’re more of a video person, I appreciated this 18-minute breakdown. He shares a few short stories and examples of the laws before the civil rights act in the 60’s. Holy mess.
