I just l-o-v-e LOVE when the weather here in Los Angeles is mild. Today my heart skipped a beat to see that it was in the 70’s and sunny. That means I get to wear jeans! Not that I’m going anywhere, or have anyone to impress. I’m sure Stevie won’t even notice, hmph. But I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — denim is my love language. I find jeans so incredibly easy to style, much more so than shorts anyway. Finding the right pair is a different story and takes a lot of effort… but once you do, everything else just falls into place.
This white shirt is an easy staple. It’s billowy on top and more narrow toward the bottom, so it’s very easy to wear tucked, untucked, layered, or tied for a different silhouette. I knew with the high rise on the jean, I wanted to go tucked, but I really like having the option to switch it up. That will especially come in handy down the line as I start getting bored with my summer capsule. We all know its bound to happen!
And you could change this whole look up again simply by swapping the shoe. A tan mule for a more classic finish or a white sneaker to keep it casual. And normally I think I would’ve chosen my taupe birkenstocks, but again — not going anywhere or doing anything. And these slides have really come in handy for my new never-leaving-home-again lifestyle. I wear them at some point every single day!
outfit notes
These jeans from Madewell were quite the saga. I first went and tried jeans on in the store, only to take fit + sizing notes so that I could find them secondhand (the perfect plan muaahahaha). When I found my ideal style, I ordered a pair on Poshmark in a slightly different wash. I had no idea they would stretch out like 2 sizes after wearing for a few hours. So I went back to Madewell with my tail between my legs and spent the big bucks on brand new ones that actually fit. I felt ok about it since they were fair-trade certified, otherwise I probably would’ve kept searching. I do love them though and I’m glad I got my appropriate size — which was sized down 2 full sizes from my normal Levi’s size. (The bigger pair I keep for days when I need a bigger pair. And vacations.)
This shirt is another secondhand find and there are soooo many of them on Poshmark. It’s called the Madewell Central Shirt and I got mine for a steal with the tags still attached. Right now I’m actually hunting for the drapey version of this top in a dark tobacco too. Might have to wait until next season to find it secondhand, but I think it’ll be worth it. Like I said, I appreciate the versatility of this style and I also like that it gives off an instant polish — pair with some gold jewelry and BAM! Summer dream.
What’s your favorite thing to wear on a pleasant day?
loves,
