Beach Day —> Stevie’s first movie —> Working —> LA Heart Walk —> Engagement Party
It was one of those weekends where you almost feel like you just went from one event to another, stopping home solely to change clothes, maybe start a load of laundry, and then continue on. We somehow sneaked in watching Gone Girl too. As you know, those weekends can be exhausting. but this one had so many special moments mixed into the rigid schedule, that it was really enjoyable.
Part Un: Stevie and I had a great day at the cold beach. One of my dearest friends from my college years year, visits California every summer with her family, and she always lets me crash the party, so I’ve had the pleasure of seeing her several times over the past few years. It’s always so nice to get caught up and just hug her and see her sweet face. Plus, this year, Stevie was waaaay excited about the ocean, and he had a blast. He was full-body shivering when I finally told him it was time to go.
Part Deux: We have attempted the movies before, but this was the first time we ever made it past the first 20 minutes! The local AMC hosts “sensory friendly films” where they keep the lights up a little bit and kids with special needs can watch (or talk or dance or whatever they want) and still get the experience of a movie theater. It isn’t easy by any means. Stevie didn’t really want to stay and didn’t have much interest in the movie, but he watched a few parts and was coerced with many goldfish crackers, almonds and raisinettes to stay. When I asked him his favorite part of Inside Out was, he said “snaaaaacks.” I was proud that we all made it to the end!
Part Trois: I had a job in Seal Beach, which was a lot of fun. My first time there, and I really liked it. Then the evening was so freakin’ beautiful, I gave myself an extra 10 minutes to catch the sunset and just be.
Part Four: (I don’t know any more numbers in French) The LA Heart Walk!! It came and went. We met new people, we walked, we danced. It was hot as Satan’s armpit. Always a momentous day though, where we take a moment to be so grateful for the support of our friends and family. We kick so much butt at fundraising and I can only thank all of you for that.
Part Five: One of my best girlfriends for the past 10+ years is getting married! I won’t say how long we’ve actually been friends because then no one would believe we are 25. Which we totally are. But I digress. Her parents threw she and her fiancee an intimate engagement party at their house and it was wonderful. Such amazing hosts and lots of good food and friends and drinks and conversation. We had a great time. In case you were wondering, Stevie was visiting grandma’s house, so everyone was happy.
That’s a wrap!
And I’m just now realizing I should have broken these up into separate posts to make it seem like I had more to talk about.
I adore the sunset picture!
