I was so spoiled last week when I got a visit from two of the prettiest ladies you ever did see! The last time we all hung out together, Trina and I were both pregnant. FIVE YEARS AGO. Too long. So… Mission Mommy Break commence. I was a little worried with Stevie’s schedule that I wouldn’t be able to get away much, but his grandma and aunt were such a huge, huge help. And to be honest, Stevie seemed a little too happy about this break, but whatever. When I dropped him off we were both like “LATER, SUCKA!”
Besides all the obvious catching up and girl talk and eating and stuff, we went up to see the sunset at the Observatory, complete with treats from Porto’s and an impromptu photo sesh.
The next day we went to a taping of The Voice. That took almost a full day, but of course it’s always fun to be on a set and see all the off-camera action. Somehow we got stuck right in front of a wind tunnel and nearly froze our niblets off through the whole thing, but we tried to stay warm by dancing and huddling for body heat. Loads of fun. We weren’t allowed to have cameras or cell phones, but somehow EVERYONE around us had sneaked theirs in. So we just used our feminine wiles and sweetly coaxed our neighbor to snap a pic for us. For the record, our feminine wiles was basically just me saying “HEY! Will you take a pic and send it to me??” Sliiick.
Our last few hours together, we went up to Thousand Oaks and had some lunch (commence Stevie barf) and then walked around the Gardens of the World for a little bit. It was so pretty and peaceful! Unfortunately, I was feeling under the weather that day with stupid stupid allergies, so it wasn’t long before I party pooped and went home to start putting a steady stream of essential oils and benadryl in my body. I swear, I always feel like I’m being punished for having fun.
Regardless, I’m so glad they came (Stevie also hasn’t stopped talking about them) and I hope we can do it again before another 5 years passes us by. Now who’s got the hook up to Ellen?!
Please take me to Gardens of the World!
