Throughout this post, you will hear me referring to a river. Keep in mind, I use the term “river” lightly. This is more of a giant storm drain that is disguised as a concrete river. But I digress.
When people talk about the L.A. River, it’s usually to make jokes about it. Because ew. If you’ve ever been anywhere that has actual nature, the L.A. River isn’t all that appealing. I usually imagine it to be more like a sewer than a river.
But I gotta give the parks department some credit. I’m assuming they’re the ones in charge of this thing. They are really making some efforts to improve the area around the river. The last couple years, they’ve opened a nice bike/walking path and even a recreation area where you can swim (????) and fish. I finally reached a point with Stevie that I was so desperate for new places to go, I decided to check out the Glendale Narrows River Walk. It starts near the entrance of Griffith Park right off Sonora/Victory and goes quite a way down toward Glendale. I read that there are little parks along the way and I was looking for Marsh Park in particular. We didn’t quite get that far because Stevie wasn’t in the mood and wanted to be carried 90% of the time. But I was glad to at least see a small chunk of it. It was a beautiful day and there were quite a few people out on their lunch breaks getting some walking in. I liked it. If we have another day where Stevie just needs to blow off some steam, we will probably go again. My only critique is that there are a few parts of the walk that are not fenced. So I was freaking out that Stevie would run and trip and just fall right in. We can never rule that out completely.
Bougainvillea is my fave. I look like I love it.
As a side note, this was the first day EVER that Stevie held a cheeseburger and fed himself. Milestone. This burger lovin’ mama was so proud!!!
The river walk looks nice! And to top it off with In ‘N Out – so jealous!
YAY for holding cheeseburgers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No one gets excited when I do it…but whatev. 🙂
HAH.
PS, I love that Stevie and I have the same shirt.
