The week after Christmas, all of us caught a yucky cold dashing any and all plans of traveling for the holiday break. As someone who always wants to go somewhere, I had to find ways to make up for our down time. One of those ways was to go see snow! I wanted to go to Big Bear, since I had never been. It’s only about a 2 hour drive from us and it was guaranteed they would have snow.
The night before we went, there was a pretty good snowfall in the mountains and tons of people were headed that way. We found the last pair of tire chains in the city, if that gives you any idea what was in the works for all of Los Angeles that day. Luckily, beautiful Lake Arrowhead is on the way to Big Bear and there was so much traffic going up the mountain, that we just decided to stop there instead. They had plenty of snow and it was a great day.
As most of you probably guessed, Stevie hated it. He did great the first part of the day, but when it came to playing outside, he was not having it. He hated his jacket, his hat, his snowsuit, the snow, his gloves, the cold. But the actual 3-seconds-of-sledding-down-a-tiny-hill part? I think he did OK. At least he got to see his first snow and we have all the necessary stuff to try again another time.
Since we want to move there, he’s gonna have to get used to it. 😉
First sign of snow = CHAINS!!
Clearly we weren’t the only ones with this bright idea…
Seriously though. I kinda want to live here.
First real snow!
And finally some sledding!
Time to pack it up.
A beautiful end to a beautiful day
Ooooooh! Poor little trooper! 🙂
Looks so fun anyway!
