Stevie has really started to develop a thing for trucks and buses. Well that’s not true – he’s liked them for quite some time, but it was hard to tell since he called everything by the name of UH! So lately I’ve been encouraging him to tell me what he is seeing. He is getting closer to saying the words and when he sees a vehicle, he loudly shouts MOM! GUCK! (truck) or MOM! GATSSSSS! (bus) I am not sure why a “G” is at the front of every word, he says GEAT too when he wants to eat… But that’s another story.
Anyway, I had been thinking it might be fun to take him for a ride, either on the subway or the city bus. So I kept the idea in my back pocket and pulled it out on a day where I had some spare change in my purse diaper bag and was desperate for entertainment.
I think he liked it. We rode for about 30 minutes all around our side of town. I could tell he was nervous because he sat, quietly biting his lip, clenching onto doggy with two hands. I fully took advantage of that situation and used it as an opportunity to get him to sit on my lap and let me snuggle him. He enjoyed watching the people get on and off and I would explain every little thing as it was happening. I was honestly surprised he didn’t shout HI! to anyone, but again, the nerves. I’m sure once he gets used to it, he could be on the bus-ride welcoming committee. I know there’s no such thing. But we could start it.
I just adore this collection of photos! I love Stevie’s stuffed security doggy – I find that so endearing. Your adventure sounds like a lot of fun to me.
I wanna do the metro! Let’s do it together.
