As Stevie gets bigger, his naps get shorter *sigh* and I have to come up with more things for us to do in our down time.  He refuses to hang out at home.  (Seriously, he badgers me until we are out of the house.  He’s relentless and it is a huge stress trigger for me.)  I wish I knew why he didn’t want to be home, but I don’t.  It’s probably boredom, since he doesn’t like toys or television or coloring or puzzles or bubbles or ANYthing.  So out we go, often to our local Griffith Park.

It feels nice to visit Griffith to change it up from the usual walk around the block/park routine.  It’s close and it’s pretty, if nothing else.  I’ve already talked about our visits to the Antique Carousel and Shane’s Inspiration, oh, and the LA Zoo of course, which are also located in the park. One of our other favorite stops is the Griffith Park Train: Los Feliz Station.  It’s nice & shady plus they also have pony rides and a snack bar (with Diet Coke). So we go there weekly.

I used to wish they had a season pass or a frequent rider program, but I learned they kind of do!  Regular tickets are $3.50 a pop these days, which is already pretty reasonable.  But you can also buy tickets in bulk with the group option. You don’t have to be in a group, just buy 20 tickets up front, and that brings the price down to $2.75 a piece.  A good deal if you’re there as often as we are, or have family coming to visit.  And if you have a child with special needs or a disability, you can ask to be added to the disabled/handicapped list and they will give you 2 rides per day for free!  Sheesh, wish I had known that sooner!

Sometimes Stevie loves it and cries when we leave.  Sometimes he is scared of it and says “NO!” when we are about to get on.  Personally, my favorite part is the dark tunnel, because he just needs me for a second.  Hugs hugs hugs for me!
