I posted a long article on Friday evening after watching the news all day and feeling very raw emotionally. But something about it wasn’t settling well with me. I was voicing my opinions and trying to find answers. And I don’t necessarily know that this is the time to do that. This just might be the time to spread love and encouragement.
President Obama probably said it best in his touching speech, these children had their whole lives ahead of them. And I just want to send my condolences to each family affected by this. Whether they’ve lost a sibling, a cousin, a friend, a parent, a loved one. Or they are children who will be traumatized by what they saw, even if they were instructed to cover their eyes. Or the first responders who will have the images of slain children burned in their minds forever. Or the community in general. It affects all of them. It has affected all of us. I have come close to losing a child, but to actually lose one is a foreign concept to me. And it’s difficult to wrap my brain around. It literally is gut-wrenching. But sometimes in the midst of tragedy, we are reminded of what is truly important in life. We are reminded to hold our loved ones close.
Connecticut, you are in my thoughts now and through what is sure to be a difficult holiday season.
