Ways to Wear The New Everlane Boots

While I’ve been 100% committed to shopping ethical and sustainable clothing brands this year, sometimes my favorite shops have a little too much cuteness happening! I can still be selective, but sometimes feeling stressed or feeling insecure gets me in a wee bit o’ trouble.  Old shopaholic Jaana leaps in the room all sparkly and excited “HEEE-EYY!”  And I’m like “Hey girl, hey!  You make me feel better!”

And we hug and buy stuff.

But you see, part of that whole #fewerbetter slow fashion thing, is not only to shop ethically, but to be satisfied with less overall as well.  And I have every desire to abide by that rule.  I am determined to never outgrow my itty bitty closet.  But, damn.  We all have our moments right?

So I’m making this sound like a bigger deal than it actually is, but I bought TWO pairs of boots from Everlane. (And then I finally pulled the trigger on clogs and a leather jacket too. Gulp.  Did I get rid of my therapist too soon?)

Listen, back in the day, spending hundreds of dollars on shoes would’ve been a normal Tuesday for me. But I haven’t shopped impulsively in so long.  And while I figured I would just return one pair, now that they are both in my possession, I kinda don’t want to.

So instead, I will trade them out for something that’s not being worn.  And I styled them – if you can call some selfies in front a bare wall “styling” – especially for you!  You know, in case you’ve been considering a pair.   I don’t rely on mirrors, so I always take polaroids.  (Name the movie!)

Here are my favorite looks so far for the über cool Street Boot:ethical fashion, mom style, ways to wear, everlane street boot, everlane, street boot ethical fashion, mom style, ways to wear, everlane street boot, everlane, street boot ethical fashion, mom style, ways to wear, everlane street boot, everlane, street bootSome notes:  Paul said they look like galoshes.  But the Italian leather – so fancy – looks nicer in person.  They run large.  I’m usually a 9.5 and I ordered 9.  They have plenty of room.  My legs!  So white.

And here’s the never-ever-ever-going-out-of-style-like-ever Chelsea Boot:mom style, ethical fashion, everlane, chelsea boot, ways to wear, everlane chelsea boot mom style, ethical fashion, everlane, chelsea boot, ways to wear, everlane chelsea boot mom style, ethical fashion, everlane, chelsea boot, ways to wear, everlane chelsea bootSome notes: They fit true to size, but the ankles are TIGHT.  These were straight up painful to get off the first couple times, I thought I was going to dislocate my hip.  But sure enough, they stretched out after a few off and ons.  Love ’em.

And on that note, I need to decorate our house.

But more importantly, what do you think of the boots?  Which would you keep?!

        1. They look soooo good in burgundy!! I support that decision.
They seem pretty true to size, just the ankles are ridiculously tight and require some serious breaking in. If I had waited like a month, I probably would’ve gotten the ankle boot — but they don’t have those in burgundy, and I do feel like the Chelsea will never go out of style!

  1. hope you do a Spring/Summer capsule wardrobe update! please:)

  2. Holy moly! You are adorable in these new boots! I did something similar this weekend, went shopping for my spring capsule and miraculously found almost everything on my list–I didn’t stray from my list. But I did come home and follow the one-in-one-out rule…We are learning!

  3. Yep, Clueless! I saw a T.Swift reference in there too. I love the Chelsea boots better because I also get the galoshes vibe from the first pair. But maybe I’d feel differently if I saw them in person. And I hear ya on ethical shopping! I have a problem with thrifting and consignment shopping. Sometimes I go on binges. (guilty face)

  4. Clueless! 🙂 Great style for you!
