Here we go with location number 3 on our Tour de Thrift! Just kitty corner (catty corner?) from American Way you will find It’s A Wrap, which specializes in reselling production wardrobes.
LOCATION:
3315 W Magnolia Blvd, Burbank, CA 91505
HOURS // Mon-Fri: 10am-8pm, Sat: 10am-6pm, Sun: 11am-6pm
Additional location rumored to be coming to the Westside soon.
This place is kind of a must-see if you’re a big fan of television. In a nutshell, TV shows, movies, commercials, etc buy clothing and props to use for filming — often used only one time. So whatever can’t be returned will get picked up by It’s A Wrap, who then sells the items to the public.
Most of the items are in excellent condition and some still have original tags. The shop will also label the items with a “code” to identify which show it was used on. They have an entire rack dedicated to The Ellen Degeneres Show as well as Jane the Virgin and many other local productions.
Kind of cool, right?! It’s just so LA.
WHAT ELSE IS NEARBY:
One of my favorite coffee shops in the area, called Romancing the Bean (I know) has a pretty good soy latte and nice food options. I’ve only tried a few things on the menu, but so far so good. And the pastries look divine. Duh. Plus they have the cutest little patio with a tree that blossoms pink this time of year. And it’s just soooooo Stars Hollow I can barely stand it.
WHAT YOU WILL FIND HERE:
Mostly men’s and women’s clothes and shoes, with a few movie props. Small children’s section. Some really lovely coats, gowns, true vintage pieces, and even wedding dresses.
PRICES:
I felt like the prices were a little all over the place. Designer coats can go up in the hundreds, while jeans are around $20. But it really depends on the current store promotions. For instance in February, you could get a brand new wedding dress for around $70. In March, all menswear was 50% off. I’d say it’s definitely on the higher end for secondhand goods, but it’s still possible to find deals. Plus with everything being practically new, you can even get current styles for about half the price.
CHECK IT OUT IF:
You like your used clothing to be new-ish and you don’t mind spending a little more. The store is clean and they have good size dressing rooms on the first floor. It’s also fun to hunt down your favorite shows and see what offerings there are!
Don’t forget to pop over to The Capsule Closet for Lo’s peek into the secondhand stores in the heart of LA. So far, she’s visited Reformation Vintage, Jet Rag, Crossroads Melrose, and American Superior Vintage.
