Stevie wakes up from his nap around 3:30 or 4pm. Promptly at 5, I start unconsciously looking at the clock. Sometimes I realize I’m doing it and say STOP! The water will never boil if you keep staring at it. But it only means the countdown to bath time has begun. Usually I plop his sweet tush in there at 8pm. But more recently at 7:30. Because I can. It’s one of those things that I look forward to each day. I know he enjoys it too.
And mostly because I know bed time is just around the corner! This is the part where you high five me.
It gets us out of the grouch zone. He gets to splash around til his little fingers are pruned and I just get to sit – and watch him be happy. I wish it happened more. But he loves to slide across the tub, pushing with his feet. He’s starting to get brave and stand, as I envision his clumsy ass taking a major spill and splitting a lip. Luckily, not yet. He loves when we turn the water on to rinse him off. He wants to get his hands and face all up in there. Any toy I put in promptly gets tossed out. He’s perfectly content just being his naked little self in there. And what mom doesn’t love to see a content toddler? The moments are few and far between, so we take what we can get!
We wrap up bath time with a trip to the barber shop. Where he gets his wild curls tamed (momentarily), gets his ears cleaned and the choppers brushed. And then bedtime is only a hop, skip away. Sweet dreams little man. This is my mom face. You know. The “look aren’t we having so much fun?!” face. Even if you aren’t really.
Do tell… What’s your favorite part of the day?
my favorite part is bedtime… when jorel actually goes to sleep without fighting it. also when i pick him up from day care and he is able to tell me about what he did during the day if he can remember… however, when i pick him up when he is grumpy, i’m tempted to leave him there!!! 🙂
