It’s been awhile since I updated you guys on how Stevie is doing. And since he is my most popular blog topic, I thought it was about time. So here’s Stevie as of April 2014:
He is going to preschool 2 hours a day.
He loves it.
He is getting 30 minutes of Speech, OT and PT at school.
He’s getting an extra hour of Speech at home with the therapist who has been with us from the beginning.
He gets 90 minutes of SEDI (Social Emotional Developmental Integration) therapy at home each week.
Fine motor skills are still his biggest struggle.
He has eyelid surgeries coming up this summer. (Boo)
He weighs almost 40 pounds.
He is about an inch away from riding Radiator Springs Racers (Yay!)
He loves the iPad and it’s helping him use his pointer finger more.
His favorite food might just be In ‘N’ Out cheeseburgers.
He’s obsessed with Hot Wheels cars. You will always find one (or 2 or 10) close by.
He has recently started dancing and clapping along to music for about 3 seconds at a time.
His favorite things to do haven’t changed much – parks, stairs, ramps, walking.
He talks about his grandparents and aunties all day long – tells me their names over and over.
He hates brushing his teeth.
He has gotten much better about wearing his glasses.
He jokingly calls me “dad” to get me to tickle him.
He does a cute fake cry to get snuggle.
He says NO about 14 million times a day.
He is repeating more words. Paul and I are the only ones who can understand him, but he’s trying.
He knows the basic colors and animals.
He enjoys observing other kids, just doesn’t quite know how to play with them yet.
He insists on pushing his scooter instead of riding it.
He laughs hardest when you tickle right around his chest scar and armpits.
He always says hi to dogs passing by. “HI DOGGY!!!!”
He throws a lot of tantrums.
Once in awhile he will reach up and brush my hair with his fingers and I am putty.
He says “ewww” when his hands get dirty.
He greets everyone with a “Hi” followed by “mom?” or “dad?” depending on their gender.
If he’s awake, he’s making noise.
He cannot entertain himself for more than a minute or so.
It’s a common goal among all his therapists to improve that.
The other day, I caught him putting away his toys without being asked!
He will always point out the moon and the sky.
He has big feet.
He’s bossy as all get out.
That’s my Stevie!! Some days I honestly feel like I’m not going to make it. His behavior is still just so challenging. I wish it was easier. And I wish we could have a little more fun together. But I’m probably supposed to learn something from all this, right? Love the little fart.
I love him.
RSR?! It’s a DATE! 🙂
