As the Shuttle Endeavor slowly made its way through our city streets this weekend, just miles away, we had some breaking news of our own.
This boy is becoming downright determined to walk! Granted, it has to be on his terms when we practice. But when he wants to, he goes for it. He has horrible balance. We’ve got to get him used to his leg braces to help with that. He still has a hard time standing with them on. And don’t even get me started on finding shoes to fit over those things. But when he falls, he just gets back up and tries, tries, tries again. After a few minutes, we usually have to stop him and get him to calm down because he’s panting and sweating and just doesn’t want to give up. So we take a break. And then he tries again. Very proud of this little knuckle head. He’s on his way!
By now I don’t have to give you a volume warning, but you may find yourself holding your breath, as he gets dangerously close to walls and cats and whatnot. Our house is too small for a child this clumsy!!! But I’m sure every new walker’s parents feel that way at some point.
P.S. Why is it that every time I brag about his newly found sleeping-through-the-night habits, he goes back to his old let-me-keep-you-up-from-3am-to-5am tricks? For 3 nights in a row so far. Ugh. I mean, really.
